Why are they called breeder tanks?

Like the 40 gallon tanks ? Why are they called breeder tanks ?

I figured that but why is it the 40 gallon lol not like the 55

I almost bought a new top fin one with hood and light for 80$ on sale today but didnt wahhhh

fish need more space on the bottom to breed and the 55 doesnt have that. people also like these for planted tanks and reef tanks because you can put more plants/coral than a 55

It looks smaller due to its shorter length. However as stated earlier it actually does have more area.
