Your experience with/opinion of...

His thread is or all of us to share our experience with or opinion of any fish, plant, invert, or piece of equipment. The topic will change each week. Please keep all discussions and comments civil.
This week's topic is: convict cichlids

In my experience, convicts are a delight to keep. I really like them and think everyone should keep them at least once.

Rule number one: Always research a fish before you buy it.

Rule number two: Always cycle your tank.

I've had cichlids for 3+ years now and never had a convict till last month. Got a young 2-3" convict and is quite the character. He steals food from my 7" buccochromis and 8" JD all the time then swims around the tank go haha, my food now!

Kinda wish I had gotten a convict sooner
