I've got a 30g tank (36"x12"x16") and I was wondering what I should do for lighting to grow some plants. I got the tank already with plants in it and I'm not very sure what they are but they don't look as good as I'd like them to. The current fixture on the tank is a hood with a single t5 bulb on it. I'll get some pictures of the plants and hopefully someone can help me out.

It depends largely on what you want to grow. You've probably got at least low light, which is a good starting point.

Well I've had the aquarium for about four months...maybe a little longer...and none of the plants look that great. I've been using flourish liquid once a week also. And the water quality is very good.

On my 30g I have the Hagen glo t5ho light and for me it looks to be working fine. Maybe look into something similar for the lighting.
