First things first if you put this all together the legs will not fit correctly on the frame of a normal 55gal tank. I cut these little rubber boots on the screws down so i could unscrew them more so it whould fit over the frame. next i will say im not completely impressed with the legs they are quite weak feeling made of cheap plastic im sure they will hold just seem sketchy.

I tried to replace these with coralifes version of almost the same thing. but the are that goes up is to short it will all screw on but the light cant come down all the way so it actually shines on the tank.

ok so overal for $80 i am very satisfied the legs are a little flimsy and look like they whould break under heavy pressure but should hold the light fine. but for less the half of the next best light what do you expect. i will keep updating this to show the effects on growth if any

thanks now i just gotta wait for things to grow in but im hoping these lights will help with my swords. I love swords but im not having much luck with them i use root tabs and dose iron and still not much luck

Keep us updated on if these are helping things grow better than the shop light!!! I've been contemplating a shop light but if this unit does better I might just hold off...

Well the only thing I'm growing is anacharis and that is just barely lol. Moneywort died out n jungle val grows at the bottom but browns to quickly to be real healthy.

Hey,
I just got my lights in today too! You are right the legs are a little flimsy. I did though cut the little rubber things that go on the screws in half so that they fit on, which seems to keeps the legs from sliding. No directions on how to put the legs on so it took me a bit to figure out how to do it. Im pretty happy with it! Hopefully, I'll have some higher light plants grow better.

It's been a week now, how have the lights been performing? I'm thinking about spending the extra money for the 162w version and heavily planting my 55g.

It is defiantly better then the cheaper one. Things are growing much better and I'm able to keep swords alive and theve grown a lot so I would say go for it

The lights are doing great here. I can now grow higher lighted plants. Only thing with higher light is your plants are going to need more nutrients. I got some HC in there right now, and it's nice to see it spreading out, instead of growing toward the light! It's worth having a timer on there, I'm forgetful

I just swapped the substrate for Floramax (eco-complete without the biological water stuff). Can't wait to try out these lights.

Do you think I should buy this light from another seller with the 2x10k bulbs and 1 actinic? I had planned on getting an actinic bulb for the 6500k version too. I just don't like yellow light but want my plants to grow.

actinics don't really do anything for plant growth. I have one of these fixtures coming in the mail tomorrow so I'm pretty stoked.

I never said they did. I think 2wpg with t5ho is plenty on my 55g, so the third bulb being actinic us perfect sand not to mention the built in timer is to hard to pass up.

Several types of algae use actinic wavelengths of light. So you're feeding algae while doing nothing for your plants.

Plus, that blue is gross imo.

You asked, I answered, lol. I don't like the look of actinics either, personally. 6700k bulbs shouldn't be yellow, I haven't had any that are. They aren't operating room white or anything, but they are still pretty white.

If it's a good deal then I'd probably get it, but if it is around the same price as a new fixture I'd just get one with more plant friendly bulbs.

On the subject of fixtures, just checked the status of mine and it is still in transit, probably won't be here till monday, but hopefully it makes it tomorrow. Kinda frustrated at the shipping time, it was ordered a week ago.
