Thanks for the suggestions, I really really like the Alternanthera reineckii. Ludwigia Glandulosa is nice too. I'll see if I can get my hands on some and nice plants to compliment them somehow.

Trotty, it's definately not necessary to run your lights over 12 hours to get beautiful reds, and other colors. It's all about the total amount of light (watts), Nitrate limitation, and Fe levels. Beyond this you just need to keep good growing conditions and make sure that you don't carry any of these to such an extreme as to harm the plants (too little Nitrate, etc.).

Some Info on my tank

Lights - total of 10hrs/day (not one straight photo period)
Substrate - flourite/florabase mix
Filter - filstar xp1 with tom's surface skimmer attachment
UV Sterilizer - 9w Coralife turbotwist 3x
Co2 - 10# tank with Milwaukee reg and ph controller on 24/7 (2 bubbles/sec)

Like Purrbox was saying, I dose everyday with greg watson ferts to suppliment my substrate. My Crypts used to be doodoo brown and really brittle but now they're a stunning bronze color and healthy. It's been about 2 years since I got serious about my aquariums and now it's starting to payoff.
