My summer was really busy so I didn't have much time to work on my plants and it shows. I was looking back at old pics and I had soo much fuller looking plants. I'm not too sure what I should be doing right now... I cut back on the amount of light on my tank to get rid of algae which has sort of worked i guess. Right now I am at 4hrs of light with 2hrs of off time in between, been like that for a few months. Could that slow the growth of plants also? I have just about 2 watts per gallon also. I haven't set up my co2 yet and I haven't used any ferts in months.

I think your siesta period could be slowing the growth, so that is what I would try first. CO2 can't hurt but I am not sure if it is necessary with 2wpg. Definitely resume ferts, but if they were not in the correct proportions that might have contributed to algae in the first place - just a thought.
