Aeration in a planted tank

I have a 38 [acronym:6d2a46bb9c="Gallon"]gal[/acronym:6d2a46bb9c] planted tank with 14 fish (see profile). I would like to run an 8 inch aeration bar just because I like the effect. Will this create a problem for the plants with too much [acronym:6d2a46bb9c="Oxygen"]O2[/acronym:6d2a46bb9c] and not enough [acronym:6d2a46bb9c="Carbon dioxide"]CO2[/acronym:6d2a46bb9c]? The aquarium is running a 75 watt [acronym:6d2a46bb9c="Very high output fluorescent"]VHO[/acronym:6d2a46bb9c] fluorescent bulb.

Yes. Not really too much [acronym:9d0f6e1887="Oxygen"]O2[/acronym:9d0f6e1887], but it will outgas your [acronym:9d0f6e1887="Carbon dioxide"]CO2[/acronym:9d0f6e1887]. It's not recommended to run any aeration in a planted tank.

Corvus has it right. It will drive off the C02 which makes your plants happy. So you will get much slower growth & in some cases decline.

No need to run an airstone in a planted tank...and most tank with reasonable circulation won't benefit from an airstone, as oxygen saturation at 70F is about 4ppm.

Send a message via AIM to kagentx
just have a spray bar below water level, bubbles in a planted tank aren't natural
