i pesonally prefer travis simons choice in plants, fish, colour variations and contrast. that amano one is very impressive also with a very mature dence and very careful selection in plants. but is to typical for chinese and very boring looking.

I think Amano's secret has 3 parts: (in order of importance)
1. Photography
2. Pruning
3. Genius
Any thoughts? It almost looks like the models you see in our magazines: His aquariums are wearing MAKEUP!!??!!

no disrespect to the guy from Poland, but his design is almost a total copy of one of Amano's tanks.

Too bad I can't copy pics from the Amano site. The tank is in Gallery No. 2, Nature Aquarium No 04.

Comments like this really make me laugh! Since when is taking after a particular style a crime? Amano teaches his style to thousands of people all over the world, and it is actually not a rip off of Amano, it is Japanese Iwagumi, which is a Japanese style of gardening which goes back a thousand years.

Here is another example of an "Amano rip off" if you want to call it that

The AB aquascaping contest has several examples from hobbyists around the world

and the AGA Aquascaping contest

Nobodys aquascape is totally unique. Any artistic design comes from Japanese and Dutch influence.
