Exactly like most others I have seen on plastic canvas and steel mesh. My worry would be breaking the piece of glass. Either way I would think that the "lawn" effect is only temporary until it decides to grow through the threads holding it to the glass then you have to start over or deal with a real mess. The same thing could be done in ceramic tiles and not worry about glass breakage. Is another good idea for riccia though.
