My Aponogetons are producing floating runners that are flowering and budding, producing roots and robust-looking plantlets! How large should they get before I snip them off and plant them?

Looking Good!

The larger the plantlet, the better it will transplant, but any time after it grows roots is OK.

Can you bend the runner down and plant it still attached?

Yes, I can bend the runner down and plant it still attached. I want to move it to another tank, though, so should I "root" it now and move it once it gets bigger?

I love Aponogetons; to me they look so quintessentially "aquatic".

I would. That's what I do with strawberries anyway. :) On the other hand, Spider Plant babies I just cut off when they're about 3" across.
