I have a 24g tank and wondering if a zoo med 8500k flora sun and a 5500k tropic sun will be good for my tank I have amazon swords few stem plants and java fern.

Thanks lewis

I'd aim for 1 bulb that is in the 6,000 K to 6,500 K range, and the other bulb could be a "plant grow" bulb if you are wanting that light color. Otherwise, I'd aim for 2 bulbs that are in the 6,000 K to 6,500 K range.

So could I not use those 2 lights I mentioned? As I got them as a gift?.
Thanks lewis

You could, it just depends on personal preference. The suggestion above that I was talking about are good combinations that I've used for good plant growth before.

That spectrum of lighting offered should be fine. The lower kelvin rating will have more reds, which is fine for plants looking to start photosynthesis quicker. I run two 12K bulbs under one of my planted and enjoy the more blue look.

Like mentioned above it's preference. You'd probably get the best growth at two ~6.5K

So should 2 X 17w zoomed ultra sun 24'' T8s be better?
Thanks
