Looks great! I like how the roots of the driftwood run over the lava rock in the tank on the right.

Thanks fish [emoji106] hoping to keep them as visible as possible, putting fissiden all over most of the rocks. Should make for a nice look [emoji106]

Thanks fresh [emoji16][emoji106] how’s the Blackwater coming along? I haven’t seen it for ages!

Blackwater is still up and running. Have not posted updates in a while. Without plants, time spent on it is nil (daily: sprinkle in some food, stare at it for 20 seconds; weekly: WC).

Both tanks look great !
I just acquired the same land plant you have in between tanks for my paladarium hopefully if I can fit it in...
Well done Bert .(y)

Haha yea the gap looked abit good so I thought why not! Thanks for the love [emoji106]

Update, 60p and 30c starting to look really nice. Loving the lack of maintenance with these tanks. Everything being auto is a blessing!

Algae is starting to settle down now, a lot less GSA and BBA is subsiding.

Trident and Thor’s hammer java fern is proving to be an extremely slow grower hoping it will take off and fill out the right side soon.

30c is in need of a trim so you can see the roots coming through the rocks again. Never had much to do with trimming moss so chances are I’ll butcher it with my first attempt [emoji23] looks like a big ball of moss as the moment [emoji41]

Looking good! I’ve noticed that the other variants of Java Fern, besides Narrow Leaf, grow much slower than the regular variety. Maybe it’s due to a weaker gene selection.

I’m back! I’ve had a hell of a 6 months. Basically got kicked out of the house I was living in (landlord sold the house and gave me 3 weeks notice to leave).

I was forced to move to a smaller house so I had to pull down my 5 tanks and get rid of all my fish. I’ve sold all my large tanks (even had to get rid of my Oscar and pleco I’d had for 4 years [emoji22]) and kept the ADA tanks in storage. 2-3 weeks ago I made space for the ADA 60h and dusted off all my co2 and dosing gear. I’ve also got a few new cool additions like SS filter pipes and a chihiros doctor!

Started the new year with a fresh scape, it’s good to have wet sleeves again. [emoji23]

Here’s my new setup,

Welcome back! Sorry to hear about the crap you’ve been through. Nice setup!

Thanks fresh, yea I was pretty guttered about having to throw out hundreds worth of plants and getting rid of my Oscar. I got him when he was under and inch in size and he was over 30cm when I took him to the pet shop to be rehomed.

Feels good to be back into the scapes though, getting a second light soon aswell as the current one I have on the tank is only 93 par and isn’t strong enough to get the rotala hra at the back to turn that nice orange/red. Also had a massive buce melt on the right side of the tank so I’m hoping they come back over time. If not I’ll have to find another plant to fill it’s place. (Big bare patch on the right side)

almost due for another trim and replant and a tidy of the sand path as the ada soils made a hell of a mess of it when water changing [emoji23]

Looking good! Sorry to hear about the rental saga.

Thanks dela [emoji106] I also had a run in with the bio security team and had 5 pots of Monte Carlo taken. After doing some research (not sure if the same rules apply for WA) I found out I can legally import aquarium plants if I put in a import permit with the scientific names and have an invoice with it to prove that’s what they are. I had a look at the “banned plants” list and it’s just things like duckweed and majority of it is house plants. Apparently aquatic plants come under a different section so they don’t need to be fumigated for pests etc etc.

Pretty poor for bio security really when u can get some pretty evasive weeds and snails. Good for me however [emoji6]

Thought u might be interested in that [emoji106]

Ha, we’re safe behind the rabbit proof fence :)

I’ve had liquid glut (carbon) confiscated intra-state but of course fine to buy here.

The club has looked at importing a new cichlid species but lots of paperwork

Plants starting to grow in nicely, I’ve order a chihiros A series for a second light to get the rotala hra at the back to colour up. Think I’ll run it at about 80% power for 4 hours per day and leave my current LED at the standard 8 hours.

Not liking the leggy growth of the rotala hra, think my trimming skills are letting me down so I might have to do a replant soon and be abit more savage with the trimming to make them nice and bushy.

Little bit over growth but trimming next weekend [emoji106]

Edit: forgot to mention I filled the void space with lobelia cardinal’s and some hygrophila lancea [emoji106]

Looking good - see what you mean on chasing growth at back.

Yea I thought the current light that I have (RBG LED) would have enough power to handle it. It’s supposed to be 90 par at 45cm but to be honest I highly doubt that it is. Either that or it lacks in spread.
