Why more AS, though? I'm just trying to see where you want to put it. I like the "mound".

It's hard to tell from the pic, but the right side is very shallow. Most of it I against the glass with the center only being about 1/2" deep. The mound shall remain, don't worry Joey. ;)

Got some more aquasoil...

Hardscape finalized:

Decided to go with HC again.

I like the idea of HC with some hairgrass patches around the stones. This is something I wanted to do with the last scape, but went another direction.

So, Friday night became dry start night. This is my first attempt at a dry start, so tips and tricks are welcome, and greatly appreciated.

Not a whole lot going on, but there is some noticeable growth.

The HC had some recovery to do. It had spent a little too much time in shipping due to a holiday, then sat around for another day or so before I floated it in a breeder box in another tank for a day or so, then made it here... It's doing well now, though.

Top pic is day 1, bottom is day 10.

Thanks Scotty! It should look nice once it's all nice and green.

I hated trimming the HC carpet before, but I really miss the look of it! Hopefully I stay strong and keep up on the trimmings this time around! :D

You're welcome! Never have dealt with HC, so no advice there! :D On another note... I am starting a rimless tank :)

Would you recommend growing HC under the current satellite plus? Im considering the same with a similar depth.

Glad to see things are back on track for this build, Bill. I was never a fan of DSM... albeit it works. I've always had better luck growing immersed from the start. Just curious, what went wrong in the DSM that made you decide to ditch it?

Thanks, Brian. Good to finally hear from you again... Don't forget, I was completely against doing dry starts, too! It went well for about the first month, then the HC started to yellow and I couldn't get it to come back. I also started to see some nasty stuff growing on the substrate. It also was extremely slow growing during the dry start. As you can see, it hardly spread at all. Since I decided to fill, growth has been much better, and is starting to spread along the substrate.

Cool man... So did you ever sell the Ray 2 or is it stashed away for the spare 12L DIY fix project?
