I bought black gravel for a new aquarium. I realized that are colored stones, and as much I clean it the water turns black always.

How much could I clean it? It is good for a planted aquarium or I should use the regular light brown stones?

Other question. It is the salt dangerous for plants?

Thank you

I have black covered gravel in my 36 gallon. I have had no trouble growing plants. Salt and plants do not work, do not use it.

If the gravel is turning your water black, I can't imagine that it would be good for the plants or fish. The color of the gravel doesn't make much difference, but you do need to ensure that it is aquarium safe.

Skip on the salt, your plants will thank you.
