Bonsia Tree suitable for inside aquariums?

If you fully submerge even the roots of most trees for an extended time they will die. If you want the effect without killing a tree I saw some neat aquascapes on the ADA contest website where they put tufts of java moss on drift wood. Looked very bonsai-esk
 
there may be types of plants you can use, and prune, to achieve the bonsai look, but a traditional bonsai tree is not an aquatic plant,a nd will die if submerged.
 
the closest thing to a tree i have found in an aquarium is giant hygro. it has a very thick stem and sprouts very large leaves. u could prune the bottom leaves off and leave the tops on for a tree palm tree look. i will have to get a pic of mine, it is humongus now and looks really cool.
