Cabomba in low light?
Does anyone have any experience with Cabomba in low light? In a previous post, I explained how my ambulia died because my lighting was inadequate. I then got better lighting, 1.8 [acronym:e2901916eb="Watts Per Gallon"]WPG[/acronym:e2901916eb], and was going to try the ambulia again, but the hatchery didn't have any left.
Cabomba has a similar appearance, but everything I read says it won't grow in low light with no [acronym:e2901916eb="Carbon dioxide"]CO2[/acronym:e2901916eb]. I don't want it to fall apart and become a mess either. Do I try with the Cabomba until the hatchery gets some ambulia? In the meantime, there are silk plants in the tank for the betta (and my anubias, crypts, and java moss also). I would rather not have silk plants anymore, even temporarily!

I love Cabomba and mine did crow (stem wise) but all the little fluffy bits would come of easy like when fish swam past it fast especially my common plec any way it caused alot of mess in my tank.

Amazing that you would post about cabomba at this exact moment. I just got four mature plants from another member (Malkore). He informed me that they may not thrive in the tank but to try anyway. I have about 1.2 [acronym:8098833040="Watts Per Gallon"]wpg[/acronym:8098833040].
I will never know the results as within two days, my angels beat the holey crap out of each one. Lesson learned...I will not be able to keep any flowering or thin leaved plants because the angels think they are snacks (they did the same thing to my hornwort a couple of months ago).

Thanks, guys! Steven, sorry about your cabomba. I already cleaned up quite a mess when the ambulia disintegrated. The tank water was brown for about 6 hours.
JC, sorry about your cabomba with the angels. Did you find something that they won't bother? I think I'll try to be patient until the hatchery gets some ambulia in. I would rather not have the silk plants, but without them (right after the ambulia was gone) the betta was very skittish. He likes the silk plants too -- he'll hide/rest in/under all of them. It's funny when he tries to squeeze himself under a tiny crypt leaf. I still have the smaller crypts, but I also got C. beckettii "petchii" which is about 7 inches high, so he doesn't have to squeeze under it (but what does he do...still squeezes under the newly-emerging leaves at the base)! Since the betta likes the silk plant, I'll be patient and wait for more ambulia rather than create a situation where I'll probably have another dying plant to remove!

They ignore broad leafed plants altogether, which is good because I also have a small bolbitis and a couple of amazon swords together with broad and narrow leaf java ferns.
