Can Dwarf Chain Sword be trimmed?

Specifically E. Tenellus. It's always done well in my tank, but, since adding pressurized CO2 and switching fertilizers, it's taken off like a rocket. In addition to spreading across the substrate, it's getting tall, especially for a "dwarf" plant -- about 4-5 inches. It's making the tank look crowded, so, I was wondering: can the leaves of this plant be safely trimmed? I know some others can, but I don't want to break out the mower only to kill them off.

I think I've trimmed leaves off this one - no issues. I'd just try a couple lower, older leaves.

I'm going to do something like that when I have another tank ready to go. They're such nice specimens, I hate to waste them.

but they grow like weeds in good conditions so you'll have more than you can handle eventually. i toss out so much it ridiculous
