I have had fish tanks my whole life but I do not have much experience with plants. I am not ready to get high maintenance plants, yet, but was wanting to start out with some low light plants. I am going to be setting up my 55 hexagon tank again, which is about 29in tall. There is room for 3-18 inch bulbs. Is 29in too tall to grow low light plants with basic aquarium plant light bulbs? Sorry if my question sounds stupid, I am not sure if I am asking the right question...any help is appreciated

Yes I think you could grow low light plants there are plenty of low light plants that will be ok. Anubias, java ferns, amazon swords, crypts, wisteria, water sprite, java moss, hygrophillia would probably go ok as it's a quick grower. You'd need root tabs for the crypts, sword and hygro.
