Okay so to my understanding, during the night tanks that have CO2 require an air pump on them? I have a 29 with just DIY but if I run the pump during the day it will disrupt the co2? It's on a glass diffuser

Yes and yes. If you are going to run diy co2 overnight you should really run an airstone so that the co2 can escape. In the day time, you want to minimize surface disturbance so the co2 can build up.

So basically have the airstone on only during the night? By the way the tank was an old bio cube so it has pumps and the jet things that shoot out water from the pumps. Is it okay if they are pointed down during the day? No surface agitation is done, or does the entire tank have to be still?

Well when pointed down water shoots down, so the inside of the tank is flowing a bit, but the surface of the water is still. Thanks for the answers though! Wasn't sure about the airstone at night/day.
