Do those look like living bamboo shoots? dead shoots? petrified? fake?

I'm not usually a fan of 'fake' decor, because it's usually gawdy.

This however, is very nice. Its a nice scene to begin with, and then when you consider its aquatic, with live plants...it gets that much better.

In his nano entry is that Cladophora on the ground? Wouldn't dead bamboo decompose and mess up the water after awhile?

Yeah, Cladorpha. The description on AGA says the sticks are dried bamboo. If dry bamboo does decompose, it appears easy enough to replace in the nano. Here is the tank on his site: http://www.pbase.com/plantella/nanobattery3

Yea know, it's after looking at tanks like in the link that I go home and mope for the weekend about never having the time it takes to do a tank like that.

I have read in one of my books to make bamboo rot slower is to coat it with aquarium safe varnish or silicone.
