When I cleaned my tank yesterday I discovered dark worms in my substrate. They are very thin and only about 1/4 to 1/2 inch long.

The tank is planted and has about an inch of substrate on bottom. I have 2 other tanks but only noticed in this one, maybe because the rocks are larger.

Anyone else have this? Should I be concerned? I clean regularly - usually 15 to 25 % 1x a week. Water quality is good.

Thanks,
Darcy

No chance that they are baby loaches. Or I hope they aren't since I have never had loaches and that would freak me out.

I never fed any live worms either.

I wouldn't be worried about it unless you saw them attached to fish or other creatures. Substrate can harbor lots of different little worms so it's not all that unusual, it's just that most of the time they get slurped up by tank inhabitants so we don't often see them.
