I found the best way was to kind of drag the runners under the substrate. It is ok if some of the green gets buried in the substrate - it will pop back up eventually assuming your lighting and nutrient supply is adequate.
I am using flourite. Ahh great thank you! I was a bit nervous to put some of the green under the substrate but your advice worked great for me! Much appreciated!
