Diatoms last how long?

The white gravel is probably quartz and a contributing factor.

Presuming you don't mean epoxy coated white gravel, of course.

OK, is this Diatoms or BBA on my Anubia?

(Gonna start using my vid camera to do images. Cant focus this P.O.C. digital camera)

I know this is a thread about diatoms .... but

that pic looks like BBA, esp. the little tuffs at the edge. It looks just like what I have, and mine also rubs off in powder or sheets (with difficulty) but never completely. It covers plants, driftwood, gravel..... I've had BBA for months now, and it does not go away, ever!

water changes kill it quick had it in both my tanks and got ride of it with in one week 25% water changes every day did the trick
