Do I need RO unit?

My water hardness is 11 dkh. Would I see any difference on plants if i purchase RO unit and low hardness on 6-8 dkh?

An ro unit is great for tweaking your water to exact preferences for particular livestock. For a planted tank that doesn't have picky live stock; wild caught fish etc. it would better to spend the $150-$250 on awesome mechanical filtration and great lighting. IMho anyway.

I had a beautiful planted tank when I lived in the city with my nice soft water. Moved and the water was crap, first thing I did was get an ro unit running. Really not much choice ..
