Dust and Hair-Like Gunk on Plants

Hey everyone,

I have noticed that recently my plants are getting covered with two things:

1) What looks like hair of some sort (but it's not)
2) What looks like dust/small particles

Could it be algae?

I have only had my tank for 2 weeks and I'm in the middle of cycling.

I am considering getting some Otos to deal with the problem if it is algae I'm dealing with.

Any info. would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds to me like diatoms, which will go away on its own after the tank gets established a bit. Got pics?
