Eco Complete for 90 Gal

How many bags of Eco Complete would be needed for a 90 gal tank? What's the reccomeded depth? Thanks!ringfinger

This calculator works pretty well for Eco-Complete. 2 would be ok, but 3 or more inches depth would be ideal...depending on the size of your bank account. Be ready to spend some money.

Mine has 7 in it. 5 would probably be a minimun.
Ringfinger: Thanks for the calculator info. For a 3" depth it figured I needed 149 lbs of sand. Do think this would hold true for Eco Compete as well? I was kind of planning on going with 7 bags, as Hoovercat has suggested. Does EC have the same weight and density as sand? Just kind of wondered. As for price, you're right, they're pretty proud of this stuff.

Not sure about the weight and density, but the calculator was accurate enough to figure my depth goals for eco-complete in a 20 gallon. Maybe someone with a larger tank has had success with these calculations and will speak up. Hopefully your supplier will give you some sort of deal on the shipping.

I would plan for at least 7 bags. More than likely you'll need an 8th bag, maybe a partial 9th.

I used 100 lbs (5 bags) in a 90 gal.
Mine is 2 - 3" deep.

www.aquariumplants.com has the best prices I've found for EC. It's probably going to cost you $1 per pound no matter where you get it. Spendy, but well worth it for what it does. You won't regret it

The 20lb bags are on sale for $15, and shipping to mid-nebraska would be $10 per bag. They are based out of New York, which is why shipping is that expensive.
