I would appreciate suggestions for a moss that will actually float. I've tried both java and willow with no luck in terms of floating. This would be for small tanks with only a sponge filter, so very little water movement.

This doesn't technically count a floating, but I tied my java moss to the rim of the tank and it looks very nice. But I would also like to know about floating mosses.

I don't think any do, on their own. Just not enough structure to do the water tension thing maybe. There are other things that float though.

Not a moss but you could try riccia. Can be very messy though in certain instances (such as with an HOB) but should be great with a sponge filter.
