What is a good plant that can be used floating in a breeder tank to help remove nitrates and phosphates? I'm thinking my reason for losing so many babies was due to the small water changes, and would like to do fewer PWC's next go around, and possibly have fewer casualties. GBR's are so sensitive.

I was thinking hornwort too, but I remember how much of a mess it made in my 55G. would prefer something not so messy. Was thinking, can you float water sprite? And would that work?

water sprite will do ya good. I had some in my breeding tank with my betta babies, and it survived. Its now planted back in the gravel in the 55, but for the time i needed it to float, it did great.
