Fluval Co2 Mini system, Possible to replace diffuser?

Hey guys, I just purchased my Fluval mini co2 kit Fluval Mini Pressurized CO2 20g Kit | CO2 Systems | CO2 Equipment | Aquarium - ThatPetPlace.com (product here), and it comes with a ridiculously oversized "diffuser".

I'm wondering if I can possibly replace that, with a glass diffuser that i recently purchased here Co2 5K Diffuser (click on images to see the entire thing)

If so, should i also purchased a check valve as well? (it looks like the co2 has a built in bubble counter)

i guess, for the diffuser. as long as you make sure it fits, etc.functions
not sure about check valve, prob. not necessary, but i always add one no matter what
