I think you'll struggle to get it planted in the gravel cap. Its a very small and delicate plant

I think your biggest factor will be lighting and enough co2 to supplement it. Once established, glosso roots can go down well below an inch, but the light intensity is what'll keep it pushed down along the substrate.
