Alright. I have a 55 with some hydrilla and water weed floating. The hydrilla is reproducing and forming tubers, but the stalks attached to them are too short to get much light at the bottom of the tank.

Is growing then in the 10g until they're tall enough a realistic solution? There address no fish in it so I could dose ferts, and I would need lights.

Why not just trim some tops and replant those ?

You could try growing them in a 10g as well.

PLEASE note, these are an Invasive Species, so please dispose of any trimmings properly.

Why do you say, no fish means you can add ferts ?
I add ferts in my tanks and I have fish and shrimp.

Would. It should say "would" not "could"

Also, when I try to plant the tops they die at the bottom.

This currently what it looks like in there. The weed and hydrilla are in one single bunch, but the weed is more prolific. I've planted some of those and they're growing.
