Hardy carpet plants?

The two go hand in hand though. High light and CO2 will give you a plethora of options. Medium light gives another set of options. High light and no CO2 will net you a nice mat of algae.

I have never had algae
 
Try out dwarf baby tears. I've grown them multiple times and never once have I had to much trouble with them. The small leaves also make your tank look a lot bigger
