My new clown pleco has basically ruined my fairly mature crypt population. I know he was just trying to get the algae and diatoms on the leaves and I hope and assume they will grow back, but does anyone have any ideas, besides Anubias plants, to add to a tank with a clown pleco?

how about large swords and java ferns........they should be fine.

Well, coming from someone who has an 8" Sailfin Pleco, I can understand your pain. He occassionally flattens my crypt leaves and he will "accidentally" uproot delicate stem plants.

Any plant that has a decent size root mass can survive being uprooted but if your's likes to bask on the leaves or just likes to mash them down, you are in for some adventures.

I find that my deep rooted stem plants are not bothered by mine...this includes Ludwigia, swords, parrots feather (who knew?), ambulia and bacopa.
