Anacharis is dying in my 55 gallon and java fern not growing. The water was around 80 so I have lowered it to 78. Lighting is 2 15 watt bulbs and I think that might be why. Any suggestions, and how much would it be to by higher watt bulbs? Thanks

I think you do need to upgrade your lighting. You will need a whole new fixture. How much it will cost depends on what you want to do. How much light do you want? How high tech do you want the tank to be.

Something like this would allow you a large array of plants.

Well really I just want enough to slowly grow the plant and keep it alive.

This fixture would be my suggestion with 1-6700K/1-10000K bulb each. Price is right and it'll keep you in the lower end of reasonable lighting IMO/E.

A cheap alternative for a low light setup is an $8 4' shoplight from walmart. I had one on a 55 and the plants grew pretty good. Keeping those plants with those fish will be the hard part. I never could keep plants with my africans.

What about if I get aqueon floramax Which is for growing plants? How about similar lights?
