Your plants always relied of CO2. It's just a matter of whether they get it or not.

Oh ok, and thats why added co2 really helps?

If i added more yeast to my formula, would that help?

Yeast multiply and grow by consuming sugar. Adding more may give you more bubbles but they will go through the sugar faster and the mixture will likely need to be replaced more often. Experiment and see if it works for you. Do you have an overflow bottle in your setup?
