Hey guys,
Im redoing my tank and i just got a CO2 80lbs. He said its about 4 1/2-5feet tank from a friend. I dont mind paying 100(-) bc it will last me a long time, but i want to upgrade my lighting.
I currently have 2 bulb of 48 inch. (1 is flourescent about 6000k, 1 is tropical floura from zoo med/5000k). I aslo have a 48 inch Led from Fluval Eco-bright gives about 7500k).

MY question is do i need an upgrade for High Lights for having high plants/carpet or colorfull plants since im getting a CO2 tank, or i dont need much?

Please help. I would be much appreciate it.

Ps: a 55 gallon.

Carpet plants generally need high light.

As light travels through water it becomes less useful to the plants. As carpet plants are usually the furthest away from the lights they generally need high lighting. Check out PAR on google. (Photosynthetically Active Radiation)

Carpeting plants such as dwarf hair grass, baby tears or UG need very high light.

Crypt parva and staurogene repens are not classed as carpeting plants but you can still achieve a carpet effect. These can be grown in low/medium light.

The co2 will be very useful to all of your plants, but is essential for the true carpeting varieties
