HornwOrt in a bucket????

Does anyone know if I can "grow out" my hornwort clippings in a bucket with WC water!?

If its Ceratophyllum demersum then I'm pretty sure that stuff can grow anywhere! Mine is trying to take over my whole tank. My gouramis love it & so do my shrimp. I have a quite a bit of my clippings in a jar with water & it's doing fine. No lamp just sitting on my table.
