How many fish?

Help Please..

I know there are different responses that can come from this...but i want to know for my specific situation. I have a 40 gallon tank (36x18x17) with a Fluval 306 canister filter, and a 300 watt aqueon heater. I have 3 plants in my tank and plan to get more. As of right now, i have 9 almost full grown guppies and 3 small zebra danios. i know i can fit a good bit of fish but i wanted to know around the number. I am hoping to get a variety of fish i really don't want all one or two kinds of species. I do about a %10 water change every week, so i maintain my fish quite well. Please if you would let me know about how many fish i can house it would be appreciated. Thank you ahead of time.

15 more fish would not hurt, depending on size and bio load

Like what was said, about 15 more fish or depending in size/bio load, should also get some bottom dwellers. One thing I do suggest when you reach your goal of fish is to increase your weekly water change to 40-50%, more fish =more waste in the water. You can get away with just the 10 now because you don't have much in there.
