Can I tank fishing line and tie my plants to my driftwood until they get rooted to the wood?

I use black thread. It's hard to see on the driftwood and it eventually will dissolve and by that time the plants are attached.

Securing Plants to Driftwood
Hello KK...
Use cotton sewing thread and just enough to secure the plant to the wood piece. Anything else won't dissolve in the tank water for 100 years or so and fish can become tangled in it. Cotton thread will dissolve fairly quickly. By then, the plant roots will have grown into the small cracks in the wood.
