I may have found a way to plant java fern

I just recently did this. Put the java fern into the sand in my shrimp tank, but ALL rhizoids are sticking out. Will the plant thrive? I did this unintentionally to the one in my ten gallon and it is showing excellent growth.

Just the job, bury the rhizomes and they will rot. I buried mine, ignorant at the time, the leaves all died but new plantlets sprouted from the tips of the dead leaves and these I have removed and grown on correctly. The side effect is that my stock has risen greatly, even though they are still a little small.
