In need of some filter advice!!

So I have a planted aquarium with an Eheim 2028 canister filter up and running, I have been looking everywhere for some type of sponge attachment that I could use so the filter wont suck up those large particles of plants!!!! Right now I am using the intake tube that came with the filter. The tubing that my filter uses is 16/22mm. Currently I cannot come up with anything that can help me, so I came here where all the answers are!!! Any help would be much appreciated!! Thank You!

you could try wrapping panty hose over the opening...that's what I do with filters in fry tanks.

I just put a sponge over mine but it I think pantyhose could be done and it wouldn't be as noticeable.

i use hydro pro sponge filters filters as my pre filters.

came with three different sizes of intake attachments but none fit mine so i used silicone and one of the loose fitting attachments
