I'm new to planted aquariums- up to now have had live plants but pretty much just java fern, java moss and a tough anubia.

I'm setting up a larger tank now. I want to get more ambitious but...not quite yet.

My question is- is the light the guy at the pet-shop sold me, too bright? From the bit of research Ive done, it seems like a low light will work better for me?

It's a 20 W Extra Day High Glow

I dont have CO2 injection and dont plan to have it in near future. (Moving slowly to acclimatise the husband)

Is this a 24" bulb? If so, then it's a T12 bulb, and you will most likely be in the low light range. For those plants, it should not be a problem.
