LCD lights for planted tanks?

LEDs are ideal for a deep tank. They really penetrate well.

As a rough guess based on my experience with my 20H, figure 1W LED = 3W fluorescent. You could cut it down to 1W LED = 2-2.5W fluorescent as a safety factor to account for your tank's depth.

OK so the light (ballast) on my 55 gallon went out yesterday. I have a Coralife Aqualight with two 65 watt CF bulbs. I was thinking about using the 3w versions of these and getting 14 of them to closely match or slightly increase the lighting. Is this a bad idea? Should I get more 1w emitters instead? Seems like I would have to add more drivers.
