Just wondering what sort of light I'm getting in my tank

Roughly 16in from light to substrate
1x T8 Power-Glo 3ft Fluorescent tube - 18000K

Low light. Also, if you are intending to grow plants I would look at buying something closer to a 6500k temp range.

Swords are low light tolerant plants. So are crypts, anubias, and moss. Either switch to all low light plants or upgrade the lighting if you're trying to grow more light demanding plants.

I do plan on upgrading lighting when I have the money (always seems to be the case).

In the meantime, is my lighting schedule going to make a huge difference plant or algae growth, with the wrong spectrum?

Plants:
Water wisteria
Amazon Swords
"Creeping Jenny" - possibly moneywort, haven't been able to get a definite ID
Cardamine

While plants can use a little of the high blue light from that bulbs, algae can actually use it better.
