Lighting question.....

I've read some reviews by people who have used them and, as a replacement for an incandescent bulb, they work wonders. Because of their twisted design they are not as efficient as a straight CF lamp of comparable wattage because you get a lot of strike-back, but they are still far superior to incandescent and work great in tight spaces :)
 
they work great for low light tanks, like 5-15 gallon tanks...which is where you usually find incandescent fixtures in the hoods.

the U shaped bulbs are better than the spirals in terms of light lost due to shape and restrike.
