I had the a water lily one sprout from the pack at Walmart. Sounds to be the same thing as they had a guarantee or you can send them back for fresher ones.

How do those bulbs reproduce? Like each species of plant? I hear that sometimes you can split a plant in half, or they grow runners. Anyone know?
 
I am not sure, mine cleaned the bulbs but not sure if its a normal behavior or not. I do know that my cories also relish the pieces of zucchini I put in for my otos

sounds and looks like the type of "fungus" that sometimes inexplicably coats riverwood (incidentally its harmless). I added a big piece of mopani to a tank that developed this thick slime, my albino cory was in heaven. Between my snails and the cory, my mopani was spotless in a matter of hours. I think the slime must house quite a bit of infusoria to attract scavengers as it does. Google driftwood slime and you'll know at once if its the same thing.
