Looking for Lighting Advice

I currently have an 80 gallon planted tank with sand substrate. I'm using the Marineland Double-Bright LED light. I love the look it throws, but it's not working for my plants. The bottom plants are doing okay, but I wouldn't say they're thriving.

Anytime I've put floating plants like hornwart or the like they always die (even duckweed!). Really would like to find something that allows me to grow floating plants successfully.
