Hey everybody I wanna see pictures of all the beautiful and simple low tech setups. For me they are the only way to go. IMG_2222.JPG. Here's mine.
 
What kind of root is that? Did you buy it or find it? Looks good!! It will fill in nicely in time. Here is a full shot of mine.

Thanks!! I built the stand and canopy too. That is the roots of some Devil's Ivy hanging in the tank. I keep it growing on top of the hood. You can see the leafs up on top. Nitrates are 0 all the time. I had the tank severely overstocked a while back and nitrates were still 0. That stuff is no joke. No algae problems either. Next tank will have a sump so I can dedicate a compartment to the root system of the ivy. I don't really like the roots in the tank but the fish LOVE the roots.
