Wondering if anyone has mapped tank flow using maybe food dyes or something? I have an idea on the flow direction in upper reaches of tank but no idea what goes on at substrate level (if anything).

I did that once a long time ago so this might be out dated. I used sewing thread anchored with a fishing wieght called a split shot. Put them in different locations in tank to see what direction thread would sway. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply. I'll look into this as I think I still have some split shot in the garage somewhere.
