Melonsword question

I got a Melonsword today at my lfs. It came in a little substrate basket which is too big to completely bury. They told me I shouldn't take it out of the basket? Do I really have to keep this thing in this ugly basket?

no, there's no need to keep it in the basket. pull it out and plant it... and make sure to put a root tab under it

Agreed... just be gentle if it is in rock wool. You will want to preserve as much of the root system as possible.
